WEEABOO SHOGUN PRESENTS: Special Rescue Police Winspector Episode #24

A sniper is targeting biker gangs, and the only witness is a little girl who loves her pet parakeet. But what exactly did she see? While Junko struggles to get the truth from her, Ryoma races against time to prevent another shooting. The shocking conclusion becomes a fiery motorcycle battle with everything at stake!

Notes:
This is not to be confused with any other "My Pico" named series out there. It's not April Fool's Day. I wouldn't troll you like that. Probably.

This episode is pretty fucked up. I want to hope that during the funeral scene, they didn't actually use a real body. You'll see what I mean when you get to it. Overall, though, a good episode that primarily focuses on Junko but involves all the main characters in some way. And there's some great stuntwork, motorcycle riding, and fire effects at the end.

You'll understand why this is so dark when you watch.

"They can't get us if we're riding motorcycles!"

Wait a minute... the files are IN the computer?

Oh, one neat thing I think you'll notice in this episode, in Japan, garbage trucks play music when they're driving around, a tinny, MIDI sounding tune. I guess it makes the fact that they're handling refuse somewhat less horrible. The two most common tunes I heard when I was living there was "It's a Small World" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

WEEABOO SHOGUN PRESENTS: Special Rescue Police Winspector Episode #23

A boy's father has gone missing... but the only proof of it is that he failed to send his son a postcard. The chemical corporation he works for claims that he's on a business trip in Hokkaido... but something still seems wrong. A deadly conspiracy lurks beneath the surface... and the truth will challenge Winspector in ways they've never before seen!

Notes:
What's that? You want two episodes in a week? Well, okay then!

This is a Sagiyama episode, first and foremost, and I have to say, this is a pretty good one because it ends up being fucking creepy. Perhaps we're used to the concept of corporations covering up things in this day and age, but this storyline just works.

OH GOD WHAT
There's a part where the lab director changes tone abruptly. His tonal shift is there in Japanese too, going from polite to rather... not. You'll see what I mean when you get to it.

The trick they use to find the criminals is nothing short of brilliant.

Enjoy this creepy, well written episode. Next time, the episode is going to get a little dark.

WEEABOO SHOGUN PRESENTS: Special Rescue Police Winspector Episode #22

Inspector Toragoro's bratty nephew is visiting, and Bikel and Walter get saddled with babysitting duty. But things are cut short when a police station is attacked by a man who should have been shot to death in a bank robbery... and now he seems to be able to fire laser beams from his fingertips! When he kidnaps Toragoro's nephew, Winspector has to shift into high gear!

Notes: This is the first appearance of Ryoma's white jacket, which appears for much of the middle of the show before switching back to the black jacket. I don't know if the white one got damaged, or if they wanted to make him look similar to Kotaro Minami in Kamen Rider Black RX.

This is one of those episodes that would "never be made today" because a child gets a gun and gets away with little more than a spanking.

Pictured: totally acceptable behavior.
This episode is a great one for Bikel and Walter, also, featuring some really memorable lines. Though I will say that the ending narration is by far one of the strangest in the series. "If you don't keep your mischief under control, they'll spank your butts too!"

I guess it's thrown in their so parents will threaten their children that Winspector will come and spank your butt. Hey now. Don't threaten ME with a good time!

In the big reveal, take a look at the cybernetic thing on the guy's face. It's the same one that R-24 was wearing in the first episode. No connection storywise, it's just the same plot.

WEEABOO SHOGUN PRESENTS: Special Rescue Police Winspector Episode #21

I actually released this a few days ago, but forgot to post it on the blog. If you happen to have Twitter, follow me at @weeabooshogun, I tend to post all the releases there within seconds of uploading them. In any case, let's talk about episode #21!

"Bullets Scattered Among the Tears"

Junko is receiving harassing late night calls. A hostage crisis goes wrong, and Hisako is shot. Someone has a dangerous grudge, and it may be the final act that finally breaks Winspector! At last, Junko's past is revealed!

This is one of my favorite episodes of the series. The stakes are high, and the emotional content is gripping. We see Ryoma express an emotion other than heroism. The culprit's motive and their way of taking it out is both sadistic and sympathetic. I really think you'll enjoy this one.

WEEABOO SHOGUN PRESENTS: Special Rescue Police Winspector Episode #20

The Fiery Knockout Punch

A young man has a crush on Hisako... but becomes involved in a criminal case involving a masked man who inexplicably glows before punching through an ATM machine! Winspector determines that the two seem to be acquainted somehow. What follows is a hot blooded tale of friendship and rivalry, leading to a bone rattling, bare knuckle boxing showdown... only this time there's no bell, mat, or ring, and the stakes are high!

Notes:
I like this episode, though I seriously doubt a police officer would ever allow a fist fight to take place, though Masaki's wisdom always prevails. This episode also is the one where I noticed that Bikel's name is spelled "Bikel".

Huh, there it is right there.
