The Phantom of the Great Seto Bridge, Part I
Numerous incidents of people suddenly bursting into flames happen all over Japan. Winspector is called to Shikoku in Western Japan to investigate. What begins as an extortion case turns into something far more terrifying. And what of the mysterious boy who traveled all alone to Shikoku? How does he fit into this puzzle? It's an action packed adventure in the city of Takamatsu... the first part of a two part investigation!
Noboru Sugimura, head writer of Winspector, was from Takamatsu, so this is a fun opportunity for him to bring his show to his hometown. This two parter was filmed on location. As a fun fact, the Great Seto Bridge is actually a series of double decker bridges that cross from the main island of Japan, Honshu, to the island of Shikoku in Western Japan. It is is a massive 8.1 miles (13.1 km) in length, and the largest double decker bridge in the world. Additionally, the prefecture that Takamatsu is located in is Kagawa Prefecture, just like our hero's namesake (but using different kanji).
The reveal in this episode is rather well done, and the less I say about that the better. The writing is also exactly what I'd expect of a man who went on to write Resident Evil games, and you will understand what I mean when you watch.
Ryoma does something like a Rider Kick out of costume.
Enjoy this fantastic episode and the conclusion to the two parter will be out soon! Can you believe we only have nine episodes remaining?
